19 Job Interview DO’S 

  1. DO research on the company so you will be prepared to answer any questions about its history or business.
  2. DO practice interviewing before the actual interview. Enlist a friend for help!
  3. DO dress appropriately.
  4. DO bring extra copies of your CV.
  5. DO arrive early. Preferably 10 to 15 minutes prior to the interview start time.
  6. DO greet the interviewer by title (Ms., Mr., Dr.) and last name.
  7. DO shake hands firmly.
  8. DO make eye contact with your interviewer.
  9. DO wait until you are offered a chair before sitting.
  10. DO be aware of body language. Maintain good posture and look enthusiastic.
  11. DO ask for clarification if you don't understand a question.
  12. DO emphasize your strengths.
  13. DO ask questions. This will display your interest in the position.
  14. DO be honest.
  15. DO listen carefully.
  16. DO let the interviewer know that you look forward to hearing from the company soon.
  17. DO close the interview positively with a handshake and thank the interviewer for his or her time.
  18. DO get business cards from each person you interviewed with.
  19. DO write a thank-you letter to your interviewer(s) promptly.
